Our Story

EssenTrek was born out of a love for the outdoors, a battered old Defender, and one very muddy, very loyal German Wirehaired Pointer called Rupert.

We’re not some corporate brand cooked up in a boardroom. We’re real people who spend weekends off-grid, sleeping in the back of the Landy, brewing coffee on the bonnet, and finding peace in the middle of nowhere. EssenTrek started because we couldn’t find gear that matched our mindset—practical, durable, and priced for real life—so we made it ourselves.

No Frills. No Fluff. Just Good Gear.

Everything we make is built with one goal: to get you out there without emptying your wallet or overcomplicating things. No flashy marketing. No over-engineering. Just the essentials for the trek—stripped back, tested in the wild, and designed to take a beating.

Our first product—the Highlander Hard Shell Roof Tent—was tested on the roof of our 2005 Defender 90, across coastlines, forests, and soggy UK lay-bys. With Rupert curled up inside and the rain hammering down, we knew we’d nailed it.

Who We Build For

This brand is for the explorers who do things their own way. The ones with dogs in the back, mud on the tyres, and nowhere to be. Whether you’re kitting out your overland build, planning a weekend away, or just want gear that won’t let you down, EssenTrek’s got your back.

The Journey’s Just Getting Started

The roof tent’s just the beginning. We’ve got more kit in the works—awnings, storage, cooking gear—everything you need, nothing you don’t.

We’re not trying to be fancy. We’re just here to build solid gear for people who live for the outdoors, who love their dogs, and who’d rather be parked up on a hilltop than stuck in traffic.

From our Defender to yours,
See you out there.
